La Sorga

About

La Sorga is the natural wine project of Antony Tortul, founded in 2008 in southern France. Tortul works with fruit from old vineyards across Languedoc and neighbouring regions, focusing on organic and biodynamic farming. The wines are made with spontaneous fermentation, no filtration or fining, and generally no added sulphur. La Sorga has become one of the cult producers of the natural wine movement, known for expressive, energetic wines and distinctive labels.

Fier Heretique

Montagnac, Languedoc, France

From iron-rich clay and limestone in Cessenon-sur-Orb. Niellucio (60%) was pressed, in which whole bunches and destemmed fruit from various Muscats, Chasselas, and Listan were submerged to macerate for 45 days, followed by 7 months further ageing. Electric nose with almond, fleshy peaches, grapefruit, and blood orange. Magnificent. Medium orange/rosé.

C'est les dindons qui font glouglou

Montagnac, Languedoc, France

Pinot Noir from 20-year-old plantings in the poudingues of Castelreng, Haute Vallée de Limoux. 34 days of maceration, then 9 months ageing in clay eggs. Bright red berries with a hint of spice on the nose, huge minerality on the palate, and the higher altitude preserving a steely acidity. The ripe core of fruit reminds us that this wine is of the south. Light red, best lightly chilled.
