O Pando

La Perdida / Larouco, Valdeorras, Galicia, Spain

Old vine Godello Viejo from the O pando vineyard, with sandy granite and clay soils. Incredibly low yields, with just a handful of bunches per plant. After a 5 day maceration, the juice was pressed into tinaja, with a portion of the skins submerged in the juice as it ages. A wine of potency and complexity, this harkens to the days before the stylistic influences of Burgundy swept through the region. Here the abounding minerality and volume of the juice feels saturated with the elemental signatures of this ancient winegrowing region, with notes of wild fennel, ginger, and parlsey stem leading us down the garden path.
